According to Proexchangerates, the Federated States of Micronesia is a sovereign nation in the western Pacific Ocean composed of four states: Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk, and Yap. The country operates under a presidential system, with the President serving as both head of state and head of government. The President is elected by popular vote for a four-year term and is eligible for re-election. The Congress is composed of two chambers: an upper house, the Senate, and a lower house, the House of Representatives. Senators are elected to four-year terms in single-seat constituencies while members of the House are elected to two-year terms in single-seat constituencies. The judiciary in Micronesia is divided into three levels: local courts, appellate courts (the Supreme Court) and the High Court; all judges are appointed by the President on recommendation from the Supreme Court’s Judicial Council. The Supreme Court has both judicial and administrative functions; it reviews issues related to constitutional rights and interprets civil law statutes. In addition to its federal government structure, Micronesia also has several autonomous entities that have their own governments including municipalities which enjoy some autonomy over their internal affairs such as taxation and public services like education and healthcare. Micronesia also has a constitutional monarchy known as the Kingdom of Pohnpei which serves as an advisory body to advise on matters concerning traditional customs and laws as well as international relations. The Royal Family is headed by a King or Queen who serves for life along with an Advisory Council that consists of representatives from each state chosen by their respective legislatures.The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) is a sovereign nation located in the western Pacific Ocean. The country has signed several bilateral agreements related to trade and investment with countries such as Australia, Japan, China, and South Korea. Additionally, it has signed several regional agreements such as the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) for fisheries management. In addition to its regional ties, Micronesia also maintains close economic and political ties with other global powers such as the United States, Japan, China and Russia. These countries provide assistance to Micronesia through military cooperation and humanitarian aid. The country also maintains close ties with other Pacific Island nations through various initiatives such as the Polynesian Leaders Group (PLG). To further strengthen its diplomatic relations, Micronesia participates in various international conferences related to global issues like climate change, poverty reduction and sustainable development.
