Micronesia Industry

Micronesia Industry

The industry has long been small-scale and of little economic importance. The most important products are fish and clothing.

During the 1990s, some fish processing plants were started and these have gained a growing market. There are also some textile factories and companies that make buttons made of mussel shells. The regional beverage kava is also made from the plant type kava and exported. Coconuts, pearls and coconut fibers are also processed. Mining is negligible.
